A spooky walking ghost tour from the City of London City through to fashionable Spitalfields with paranormal expert and former professional fortune teller Jennifer Melmore. Can’t be that scary can it?
Jennifer has been spooking groups of curious wanderers on regular ghost walks for over four years, including paranormal investigations in some of London’s haunted hot-spots and hosting the occasional séance. The walk was punctuated by visits to three of London’s coolest bars to sample cocktails hosted by Death’s Door Gin…I was sold.
We started after work at the award-winning Merchant House on Bow Lane – an eclectic, fashionable underground bar specialising in gin and rum. Our hosts warmed us up with the first of three delicious gin cocktails before we set off on the tour.
Leaving the hustle and bustle of the City behind, Jen delighted us with ghoulish stories whilst wandering through London’s ancient alleyways and creepy churches. Then back, almost full circle to Bow Lane we stopped for our second drink at the cosier, Four Sisters Townhouse, a hidden gem in the area.
Warmed and ready to hit the pavement, we then embarked on the third and longest leg of our journey. We set off towards London’s East End, ending at the imposing Christ Church, in Spitalfields, an area long associated with Ripper Lore. Here we settled at the hipsterish Hawksmoor Bar, named after the Christ Church’s famous architect, for our final, devilishly delicious Death’s Door gin cocktail.
Death’s Door Gin Ghost Tour is only running for five nights, ending this Wednesday (Halloween).
