The Asian Awards, which has honoured luminaries such as Sir Ben Kingsley, Freddie Mercury, Shah Rukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar, has selected Global Citizen to be its official Charity Partner, for the sixth annual gala event on April 8th at The Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
Global Citizen is the world’s largest digital community working to end extreme poverty. The initiative presents a platform of stories, ideas and actions that inspire and create social change for the world’s poorest people.
The Asian Awards is a pioneering and prestigious event that pays tribute to pan-Asian success across all walks of life, emphasising inspiring achievements and highlighting inspirational role models in the fields of business, sport, entertainment, philanthropy and popular arts and culture.
Discussing the partnership, Stephen Brown, Europe Director, Global Citizen said:
“Global Citizen is both excited and honoured to be the official charity partner of the sixth annual Asian Awards.
The Asian Awards have blossomed into a voice and sounding board for the Pan Asian community, celebrating not only successes, but also sharing achievements, stories and lives of inspiring people. Global Citizen provides a platform for millions of people to learn about and take action against extreme poverty, therefore it is fitting that we join forces and inspire the world to strive for better.”
The funds raised at the 6th Asian Awards will go toward Global Citizen, building and growing the online movement that will end extreme poverty by 2030. Global Citizen is not just another charity. It is a unique platform to unite and amplify the voices of millions, to shift the decisions and systems that trap people in global systems of poverty.
The popularity and influence of The Asian Awards is growing year on year. In 2015, The Asian Awards trended worldwide at number one on Twitter and broke several Indian Twitter records.
